1.Mountain Fuji (Fujisan 富士山 ?, IPA: [ɸɯʥisaɴ]) is the highest mountain in Japan, located on the border of Shizuoka and Yamanashi Prefecture, west of Tokyo. Mountain Fuji is located near the Pacific coast of central Honshu. Fuji surrounded by three cities: Gotemba (east), Fuji-Yoshida (North) and Fujinomiya (southwest). 3,776 m high mountain is surrounded also by five lakes namely Kawaguchi, Yamanaka, Sai, Motosu and Shoji.
Mountain Fuji is a well-known symbol of Japan and is often depicted in works of art and photographs, as well as visited by hikers and tourists.
Mountain Fuji is estimated to have formed about 10,000 years ago a volcano which is still active despite having a low possibility of eruption, Fuji last erupted in 1707. There are five lakes around Fuji, namely Lake Kawaguchi, Yamanaka Lake, Lake Sai, Lake Motosu and Lake Shoji.
Approximately 200,000 people climb Mount Fuji every year, 30% of which are foreigners. Deadlines are the most popular among climbers is from July 1 to August 27. The climb can take from 3 to 7 hours while the decline mountain reaches about 2 to 5 hours.
